Moonrise
Moon atop the hill,
We stand still.
Brightly raining down
On our town.
Moonlight and shadows,
Never seen like this before,
Speaking softly some deep message,
Penetrating to the core.
Stalls, and starts again.
A leaf falls.
Softly cooing dove,
Her mate calls.
Soaking in beauty,
Feeling that our time has come,
Culminating in this moment,
Nothing needful left undone.
Free, in our hearts,
In our minds,
At least this moment.
Oh, rising moon,
You have tamed
Our every torment.
Moon atop the hill,
We stand still.
Brightly raining down
On our town.
Moonlight and shadows,
Never seen like this before,
Speaking softly some deep message,
Penetrating to the core.
